The health, safety and productivity of our land begins with a deep understanding of the unique environmental attributes of each of our growing regions. We are committed to conservation and environmental health initiatives like the Rainforest Alliance. We have transitioned many of our farming operations to drip irrigation and utilize industry leading technology to help us make smart decisions for the health of our land and quality of our product.
We understand that our resources are precious, and we continually look for opportunities to reduce our global carbon footprint and environmental impact. During peak season, almost three-quarters of our packing facility in Oxnard, CA is powered by solar with more facilities transitioning to solar each year.
With supervision from the government and scientific experts, we have built a sustainable water treatment process at our packing facility in Oxnard, CA to almost eliminate our wastewater discharge into the local water system. We are working on a new initiative to be a no waste facility utilizing only recyclable materials for packaging. This includes partnering with suppliers who share the same vision of being a no waste facility.
As a global company we also understand our role in supporting the health and safety of our employees and communities. We are committed to ethical supply chains and have created programs that promote safe working environments, improve the health of our communities and provide opportunities for personal growth and advancement to our employees. Through internationally recognized ethical audit programs like BSCI and SMETA, we ensure that all our practices throughout our supply chain are transparent and meet or exceed all social accountability standards.
